Jei gerai skaitai anglishkai ![]() My car survey C5 2.2 HDI exclusive. March 2002. 28.000 km covered Troubles found: Turbo hose loosen Solved alter refitted Hand brake relaxed Solved after tightened Glove box light fused Changed for new one Right Front seat noise Refitted Rear suspension noise XKP kit update Loose of power new air filter, new air box, new hoses, new MAP (mass air sensor), new EGR valve Loose of electrical power New multifunction screen. New software for BSI. Irregular rear tyre wear. Vibrations. New rear axle Left Xenon light blinking New Xenon light Antenna bound tightly oxidized New antenna Left window upper rubber noise New rubber Air conditioning hose leak New hose Steering wheel hooked Still not solved. I must add the incredible very poor quality of the paint and the very unstrengthened metal body parts (hood, roof, doors, etc) Regarding every good points of the car as good HN suspension, roominess, comfort, etc, It is not acceptable this lack of quality. I was driving at approximately 65/70mph on unlit wet motorway(M9) two nights ago , when without warning all lights ,wipers , dash lights and all instruments went out with instrument needles (Speedo, oiltemp, temp , revcounter , fuel gauge ,etc )falling to zero . Very unnerving , but , within two/three seconds everything came back on and service light was illuminated on Speedo. I decided not to stop but continue the last 20 miles to home. When I arrived I decided to try "Check Control" to see if anything came up , it immediately flagged up "Engine Immobiliser Fault" and the message could not be stopped from flashing up continuosly. I switched off engine let it lie for 30 seconds and restarted , fault was cleared and service light off. I had experienced this once before when vehicle was 2/3 wks old , but as it was new and I inexperienced in it's use ,and I was pulling out of a layby at the time (on holiday in Spain)I thought perhaps I had done something wrong (in a funny way it seemed like a near stall situation first time round although I did wonder how I could stall a 2.2hdi Auto). On this occasion Aircon was heating and didn't change over to Eco as it did last time , on both occasions doors locked as if internal lock button had been pushed. I would appreciate views on what happened and also similar experiences, I have not yet decided whether to take to dealer , as consensus from reading this group would suggest utter incompetence in UK (Scotland) and as I consider this to be a real safety issue I'm also considering trying to force Citroen to refund\replace. Model C5 2.2 HDI Exclusive Auto Built Oct 2002 Registered Mid July 2003. Comments re.fault , or dealings with Citroen appreciated.Incidentally , previously owned two new Xantias , no problems and thoroughly impressed with this car , but wife uses this most of time doesn't do much driving and the sharp intake of breath from her during this experience suggested that she may have panicked in the same situation. Hi all, I have just found your group having owned a C5 for nearly 2 Years! I have a vast range of experience regarding faults and problems with this car. To date the followg has occured on my car:- Hard rear suspension - Rear Spheres replaced ( 2Weeks after delivery) Flickering Head lights - Caused by exesive current draw by suspension pump, 60 Amps! - Still not fixed, Citroen report this as 'Expected behavior'. Rear Seats - Where shall I begin! Rattling, clunking, squeaking. The problem goes away when someone sits in them, They have now fixed this after 18 Months of trying. Air Bag Fault. - This occurd on no less than 4 occasions, they had the car for 3 Days at one point. The Citroen U.K. Technical tem even came to look at it. This was diagnosed as bad connectors. Now fixed. Gear lever Selector switch - Failed to select Gears manully - Switch replaced. Faulty Track rod end - Replaced. 1 Ignition cap failed - Produced fault on display as Environmtal system failiure and the engine runs very badly. 5 Ignition caps failed - Not quite sure how 5 can fail at once.... Replace and all is well. Colour Display goes blank. - This occured once and has not come back. Radio / CD buttons in-operative. - Software update to car fixed this. Boot (Trunk) lock not locking when closing - Lock replaced Passenger Door Lock not opening - Lock replaced Rear NS Passenger Door Lock Not opening - Lock Replaced. Rear OS Paasenger Door Lock not opening - Lock replaced. Squeaky breaks. - First told this was normal for an automatic ! I have driven 4 auto's all different makes, never had this. As a 'good will' gesture, they cleaned them for me, 2 months later, squeal !!!! They then told me the lubricant they use had been washed out by rain!! O.K. They have now changed the pads, problem resolved. Underlying shudder through car at 67Mph - Replaced Front suspension spheres - Still not fixed. TraficMaster EMU failed - Part not currently available ! - Not Fixed. All of these faults occured at roughly 2 Month intervals, so that's the expected time between failiures on this car, 2 Months. The ignition cap failed 200 metres from the Garage after a service! A tip for quieter driving on Motorways, Change your tyres. I now use pirelli's, much quieter that the standard Michelins. The Model I have is the C5 Exclusive SE V6. When it works it's a great car. I have also seen a multitude of odd things not working. Turn the car off, wait 5 miniutes, turn it on again, and then it works. |

Ir cia geras: C5 2.2 HDi Hatch, Jan 2002 model, bought used in September 2002 from a dealer in Gloucestershire (vehicle sourced from Citroen UK). Since late 2002 the following: 1. Despite having been XKP'd before I bought it (though I wasn't told) ,the suspension became noisy and is getting noisier. Dealer says nothing more can be done. Predictably, Citroen UK say otherwise. 2. Loose, juddery steering, which got so bad car was dangerous to drive and unstable under heavy braking. Dealer replaced a part, problem is now reoccuring. 3. Squealing brakes, getting worse. 4. Cruise control failed to operate on several occasions. 5. Headlamps switched themselves off at night while I was driving at legal limit on an unlit section of the motorway. A blind emergency stop was required. 6. Audio system suffers total failure at random, then works again without warning. 7. Random bleeps from computer, but no warning messages. 8. Overheating warning, but no overheating. 9. Heating element for driver's door mirror failed, and electrical movement is getting coarse. 10. Fake aluminium trim on gearknob flaking off - caused nasty cut on hand. 11. Rubber strip around rear screen disintegrated in summer sun and fell out . 12. Leather steering wheel trim disintegrating. 13. Lock button on dashboard randomly fails to work. 14. Hazard flashers randomly turn on when engine is switched off, can only be turned off when engine is restarted. 15. Loud gurgling noise from air con when on cold setting and car is braking. 16. Rattle from instrument binacle - getting worse. 17. Driver's eat is loose - it rocks when accelerating or braking. 18. Driver's armrest randomly jams in up position. 19. Backlight for electric mirror adjuster failed. 20. Water is deposited in boot when tailgate is opened after rain. 21. Windscreen wipers squeal at random, despite new blades and meticulous cleaning of windscreen. 22. Rear suspension feels hard or soft dpending on day, position of Jupiter in constellation of Aquarius etc. 23. Random display of service warning lamp - sometime beeping, sometime not. 24. Front of car randomly rises and falls while waiting at a particular set of traffic lights (believe it, it's true). 25. Centrol locking becoming increasingly erratic. 26. Creaking noise from steering first thing in the morning. I believe all these problems (most of which I believe were known to Citroen UK even as they sold the vehicle to the unsuspecting public) are absolutely unacceptable on a new or used vehicle, having due regard to age and price paid. I believe these faults constitute an offence under the Supply of Goods Act 1994, which is the argument I will use when I take the matter further with the supplier and the Trading Standards Office. Entirely seperately, I will take up the matter with Citroen UK, because as the UK arm of the manufacturer, I believe they also have a responsibility. |
